Home Town: San Ramon, CA
When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: How the body is able to adapt in so many different conditions. I enjoy learning about how social and environmental factors can affect development and influence disease processes. I also love getting to know patients and hearing their stories!
Things that make me unique are: I grew up in an Indian-American household and am grateful that I was able to grow up between two different cultures. I also spent two years of medical school in Brisbane, Australia. I keep an open mind and love meeting people from all walks of life.
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: cook, travel, sing karaoke, and spend time with my friends and family.
To get myself motivated I think of: how blessed I am to be pursuing medicine and doing something I love with the opportunity to make a difference in my community.
The hours I spend warm and cozy with a book I’m reading: Little Women (or any classic novel), a Nicholas Sparks book, or a humorous memoir
With popcorn in hand the movie I’m watching is: a romance or comedy. Some of my favorites are Titanic, Her, A Star is Born, Sleepless in Seattle, and Mean Girls.
Without a DVR on my cable box I’d miss (or I’m in front of the TV so I won’t miss): Friends, The Office, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Planet Earth, or anything on Food Network.
On my iPod, iPhone, iMac, iPad, etc. I listen to: all kinds of music but mostly Pop or Bollywood.
When friends and family come visit me in Little Rock, I want to take them to: Hot Springs, to all the beautiful hiking trails nearby, and to eat out at some great restaurants.
I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and…: I fell in love with the hospital. You can tell it was designed to make children feel as comfortable as possible while in a hospital setting. The staff and residents were all very welcoming. They see a wide range of pathologies, so I knew my experiences at ACH would train me to be a well-rounded pediatrician.
