Home Town: Cedar Hill, TX
When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: The evolution of how we treat certain diseases, so much has changed with medicine and it continues to change. I love learning about new treatments and technologies for diseases.
Things that make me unique are: I am Texas born and raised, but went to college in Colorado and got to ski on weekends! I am quite good at pop culture trivia…but I’m pretty bad at historical trivia. I make the best chicken enchiladas!
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: Bake! Mainly cookies, pies, cobblers, but I have recently branched out to bread! I am still working up the courage to try and make homemade croissants. I also love to cook and try new recipes with new ingredients.
To get myself motivated I think of: How lucky I am to get to be in this field and take care or children!
The hours I spend warm and cozy with a book I’m reading: Re-reading Harry Potter books or anything by Ruth Ware or Shari Lapena (thriller/mystery)
With popcorn in hand the movie I’m watching is: Pretty much anything with Sandra Bullock, my favorites are While you Were Sleeping and The Proposal. When I’m feeling less like a rom com, my husband and I love watching Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Indiana Jones marathons.
Without a DVR on my cable box I’d miss (or I’m in front of the TV so I won’t miss): I haven’t had cable in a long time! We are Netflix/Hulu people and I always binge watch the new season of Great British Baking Show. If I do have cable I am always watching Food Network or some random season of Law and Order SVU.
On my iPod, iPhone, iMac, iPad, etc. I listen to: Mostly pop country music, mixed with a little bit of everything else, but no rap music for me.
When friends and family come visit me in Little Rock, I want to take them to: The River Market and Pinnacle Mountain. I also love to take visitors to local restaurants, something they can’t get at home!
I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and…: The people are truly wonderful, I had only been to Arkansas once before my interview. I had a great interview day and felt that it was the perfect place for my husband and I to start our lives together and careers! I love the big standalone Children’s Hospital, but it still feels like a close family of residents.
