Dr. Obeid Shafi and the Medical Informatics Office (MIO) team recently published their work on Electronic Health Record (EHR) optimization in Applied Clinical Informatics (ACI), the official eJournal of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA).
Published as a “Best Practice” paper, the article highlights how the MIO team is contributing to national efforts focused on practical, scalable approaches to EHR optimization and clinician experience improvement.
The publication describes the development, implementation, and outcomes of the EASY (Eliminate, Automate, Standardize, and Simplify, Y’all) EHR Optimization program, a multidisciplinary framework designed to improve EHR usability, reduce clinician burden, and enhance workflow efficiency through structured informatics leadership, frontline engagement, analytics, and operational collaboration. The work provides a replicable model and actionable guidance for healthcare organizations seeking to build sustainable, provider-centered EHR optimization programs.
