Dr. Alvaro Proaño Falconi graduated from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in 2016. He completed his pediatric residency training at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2022. He then completed a Neonatology fellowship at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in 2025 and then accepted an appointment in the UAMS College of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Section of Neonatology.
Dr. Proaño Falconi has received a number of professional recognitions for his research including the NICU Pathway to Distinction at Tulane University (2022), and Best Poster at the Eastern Society for Pediatric Research (2024). He has been invited to speak at conferences and seminars concerning the “Congenital cytomegalovirus characterization using nanopore sequencing: a novel approach” and “Cough frequency in Pulmonary Tuberculosis”.
