One of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine, Aline Andres, Ph.D., RD, professor of pediatrics, was elected to the National Academy of Medicine, recognized for her global leadership defining how exposures during pregnancy and lactation affect maternal-child outcomes.

Dr. Andres and been instrumental in driving several of the ACNC’s rigorously conducted randomized controlled trials of diet and lifestyle interventions in pregnant and lactating women, which have established causal relationships underlying pregnancy outcomes, milk composition, and programming of metabolic health. Dr. Andres was in good company, receiving this honor alongside Dr. Joe Thompson, M.D., MPH, professor of pediatrics and public health at UAMS.
The ACNC and ACRI clinical research programs have benefitted from Dr. Andres though her leadership and commitment to maternal-child nutrition and health. This truly exceptional honor recognizes her outstanding contributions to science and public health, and continues to inspire us all.
